Background: I am offering this because of my love of the Pedal Steel Guitar and Dobro and respect for those who play and those who will play them in the future.
I have studied Pedal Steel with Jeff Newman’s material for over 25 years now. Played lead in a working band for about 10 years every week end playing Dobro and Pedal Steel. Heck I even got lucky enough to play steel behind Hugh X Lewis once or twice.
I present my way of looking at the neck for your consideration because if you are like me and you need a way to remember licks you will want to know all that I have presented in this information.
I have included some music theory for those that may have the understanding of it as an aid to using this material but that is all, as I am not a music major and heck I may have made some mistakes and or incorrect statements.
If you learn to use these chord shapes, rhythms, and the scales presented here and put them together with those pedals you will be a real powerful picker with a lot of tricks up your sleeve.
This is not all you need to know about playing pedal steel but it is a big step and it is the right stuff.
